Chinese boy can see perfectly in dark

A boy has stunned medics with his ability to see in pitch black with eyes that glow in the dark.  Doctors have studied Nong Youhui's amazing eyesight since his dad took him to hospital in Dahua, southern China, concerned over his bright blue eyes.  Dad Ling said: "They told me he would grow out of it and that his eyes would stop glowing and turn black like most Chinese people but they never did."  Medical tests conducted in complete darkness show Youhui can read perfectly without any light and sees as clearly as most people do during the day.

Miss Korea 2013 contestants look alike

An otherwise-ignored South Korea beauty pageant has come under a wave of scrutiny after a photo of its contestants went viral on Reddit. The photo of the 20 Miss Korea 2013 contestants, which was originally posted on a Japanese blog, was almost unanimously bashed by Reddit users for what they say represents a growing trend in plastic surgery that makes the women look REMARKABLY SIMILAR TO ONE ANOTHER. Netizens said plastic surgery in Korea is rapidly wiping away ethnic Korean features and made all women look similar, and westernized. This week, photos of the contestants when they were in training in April surfaced, this time showing the girls mostly with bare faces. It turns out that what made the girls look remarkably alike isn't overzealous plastic surgery, but the handiwork of very skilled, if not very creative, makeup artists. Whether these women still had something done on their faces isn't known, but at least without heavy makeup, it isn't as difficult as before to tell them apart.

A Woman Pregnant For 46 Years Gave Birth To A Mummy

75-year-old woman, Zahra Aboutalib from Morocco was discovered to be carrying a baby inside of her stomach after the baby had been conceived. In 1955,  26 year old Zahra Aboutalib was pregnant with her first child, but after 48 hours of painful labour, she was rushed to the local hospital. Doctors informed her that she would need a caesarean section. On the ward Zahra saw a woman in terrible pain die in child-birth. She fled the hospital fearing she would meet the same fate if she remained. In the days that followed, Zahra continued to suffer excruciating labour pains but the baby remained resolutely in her womb. After a few more days the pains ceased and the baby stopped moving.

In Moroccan culture, it is believed that a baby can sleep inside the mother to protect her honour. Zahra believed this myth and put the pregnancy out of her mind. She adopted three children and in due course they made her a grandmother. Many years later when Zahra was 75 years old, the pains suddenly returned. Specialist suspected the protruding belly was being caused by an ovarian tumour and arranged for her to have an ultra-sound scan. This revealed a large mass that could not be identified. Zahra was then referred to a specialist radiographer for a second opinion. He could see it was a calcified structure of some sort, but it took a detailed MRI scan to reveal that it was the baby Zahra had conceived 46 years earlier

Missing pet tortoise found again in dead father's storeroom after 30 years!

Manuela, a red footed pet tortoise belonged to Almeida, had disappeared during a home renovation, and the Almeidas always assumed he had escaped through a door left open by workers. However, it seems Manuela was hanging out for 30 years in the upstairs storeroom where Leonel Almeida, the father, kept all sorts of old junk he hadn't gotten around to fixing up.When Leonel died earlier this month, Leandro and his siblings decided to clean out the storeroom, and that's how Manuela came to be by the curb. The red-footed tortoise feeds in the wild on fruit, leaves, feces and dead animals, a professor told Brazil's, but can go up to three years without eating. The family speculated that Manuela may have survived on termites while in the house. However, he did it, he has now been reunited with his owners and remains the family pet.

Sandy Hook School Shooting : Updates

Recent news: In the days before the massacre, the mother of Adam Lanza was pushing her loner son to leave the Newtown home that provided his refuge from reality, a family friend told the Daily News Wednesday. But the 20-year-old rejected the idea and stopped speaking to his mother, the friend said. Nancy Lanza and her youngest son hadn’t talked for three days before he fatally shot her Friday morning and then murdered 20 children and six staffers at Sandy Hook Elementary School. When the mother pressed the issue of moving away, “he didn’t want to leave,” according to the pal. “He didn’t understand why she wanted him to go out into the world. She told me she couldn’t reach him — and she was worried.”

Recent news: Newton school staff, Shari Thornberg tells her survival story on the day Adam Lanza killed the children and the adults.Shari Thornberg says she was running late and fears she passed the gunman when she walked through the parking lot to the front doors of Sandy Hook Elementary School at 9:30 Friday morning. That was the time, police say, that 20-year-old Adam Lanza entered the school for an attack. Thornberg says she was told by school staff that the gunman entered the principal's office and left after seeing no one there. That’s where Sally Cox, the nurse and the office worker were hiding under desks, and Sally Cox could see the gunman's pants leg. The gunman went down the left hallway. Hochsprung, the principal and school psychologist Mary Sherlach were killed, and a teacher whom police have not yet identified was wounded, when they went into the hallway from a conference room, Thornberg says. The injured teacher crawled back into the room where at least three other adults were inside, and they locked the door.A substitute kindergarten teacher, whom police also have not identified, was slightly wounded further down the hallway. The gunman, Thornberg says, did not enter the first classroom on the left where the teacher, Kaitlin Roig, had piled 16 first-graders on top of one another in the bathroom.

Twenty-seven people, including 20 children and the gunman were shot dead, at Sandy Hook elementary school in Newton, Connecticut, making it one of the worst school shootings in U.S. history. News of the shooting was first reported shortly after 10 a.m on 15th December 2012.The suspect in the shooting has been identified by authorities as Adam Lanza, 20, the Washington Post said. Police said that Lanza first apparently killed his mother, Nancy Lanza, at the home they shared in Newtown. Adam Lanza shot his mother four times in the head while she was in her pajama in her bed on that fateful Friday morning. Then he drove in her car to the school. In the car, authorities said, were three guns: a .223 caliber "Bushmaster" rifle and two pistols, a Sig Sauer and a Glock.
Adam Lanza, The Gunman

On 15th December 2012, Lanza shot his mother, Nancy Lanza, to death at the home they shared, then drove to Sandy Hook Elementary School. The reason why he shot his mother first is still unknown. Dressed all in black on the day of the massacre, he forced his way into the elementary school. Authorities said Adam Lanza had no criminal history, and it was not clear whether he had a job. Lanza was believed to have suffered from a personality disorder, said a law enforcement official who spoke on condition of anonymity. Another law enforcement official, also speaking on condition of anonymity, said Lanza had been diagnosed with Asperger’s, a mild form of autism often characterized by social awkwardness.People with the disorder are often highly intelligent. While they can become frustrated more easily, there is no evidence of a link between Asperger’s and violent behavior, experts say.
Adam Lanza has been described in local media reports as a thin, quiet and mild-mannered young man who made the honour roll while in high school. Alex Israel, a former classmate of Adam Lanza's, told CNN he was a quiet loner and "reserved" and that "you could definitely tell he was a genius."Lanza appears to have kept a low profile throughout his life. US media report that unusually, his high school yearbook of 2010 contained no photograph of him."Camera shy" was the comment by his entry.Unlike the majority of his peers, Lanza apparently had no Facebook page, his online footprint was minimal. Lanza who was described by his neighbours and former classmates as being very bright, took siz classes at Western Connecticut State University in 2008 and 2009,bbeginning when he was just 16, and had a grade point average of 3.26. Lanza took courses in computer science, such as website design, the computer language called BASIC, and data modeling, as well as in philosophy, American history and economics.
In the most  recent news, the gunman (Adam Lanza) shot himself death as the 1st responders closed in, raising the possibility that he had planned an even more gruesome massacre and was stopped short.

Nancy Lanza, the mother of the gunman and his brother Ryan Lanza, is believed to be the 1st victim on the day of the shooting. She divorced her husband Peter Lanza in 2009,  Peter Lanza, moved to Stamford, Connecticut, and remarried three years later. She was a gun enthusiast, who often took her sons with her to the shooting range. Adam Lanza is believed to have used her legally purchased weapons to carry out his attack. 52-year-old Nancy Lanza, had five weapons registered to her, including a Glock, a Sig Sauer, and a Bushmaster rifle. It also emerged that Mrs Lanza had spoken of her fears less than a week before the attack that she was “losing” her son. “She said it was getting worse. She was having trouble reaching him,” said a friend of Mrs Lanza who did not want to be named.CBS News' Pat Milton reports source briefed on the investigation said Nancy Lanza was demanding of her children. Even though Adam was highly intelligent, she pressed him to high standards and even pressed her sons to measure up at the shooting range where she taught them to shoot, the source said.

Here are the final moments of Lanza's life, as recounted by CBS News' Miller:
"The first police officer on the scene was confronted by the glass window that Lanza had shot his way through to get past the locked door. The officer advanced into the school and saw the gunman, from a great distance down a long hallway, perhaps a couple of hundred feet. The gunman, dressed all in black, spotted the officer and ducked into a room off the hallway. As the officer, now joined by a partner began to rush down the hall toward the gunman they heard a volley of shots. When they got there, they found the gunman, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Just beyond the gunman, in a classroom, children huddled together, and their teacher, all of them shot multiple times. Nearby, in a bathroom another group of children, huddled together, all shot multiple times. It appears that the gunman let go a last volley of shots at his victims before killing himself with a single bullet to the head."

Natalie Lander, the woman who recovers from coma to give birth

Rarely does a woman who is recovering from a coma find herself also pregnant. Natalie Lander, 31, who was involved in an accident in July 2011 found herself to be 4 weeks pregnant at the time of the wreck. Doctors were unsure whether Lander would survive her injuries which included breaking her back in four places and her neck twice, as well as a smashed pelvis and brain injuries. Amazingly she was still pregnant as she came out of the coma. After four months spent trying to learn how to walk and talk again, Mrs Lander has amazed doctors with her own progress, and has given birth to a healthy baby boy, Max.
